Title: Methow Valley Elk Sightings
Post by: jaredwitman on September 04, 2019, 01:03:46 PM: I read about this from time to time but have yet to ever see one, probably won't. I am curious how often you guys that spend some time out there happen to find one cruising around.

Cattlemen’s Association is what I was told I’ve seen two cows in 20 years both on rendezvous

:yeah: We probably saw the same cow in the same field on the south side of highway 20. Pulled over because we couldn't believe an elk would be in that area

Yep.......we saw that same cow two years in a row in pretty much the same spot.

Post by: OutHouse on September 06, 2019, 10:25:04 AM: Saw a cow running through a field of snow (as if it was chased) during December several years ago about halfway between Winthrop and Mazama. A few years ago I could have swore I heard a bull bugling when hunting archery deer in Gardner unit. I spoke with a kid at the gas station in Winthrop who says he finds sheds around Winthrop with some consistency.

It's been a few years since I've seen her, used to spot her a time or two every year. Always wished there were some more around.

Yep.......we saw that same cow two years in a row in pretty much the same spot.

Same here. Two years in a row, both times in June.

Post by: Kvw4x4 on September 06, 2019, 09:51:02 PM: We hunted an area off twisp river road near the end. Was I think a 7 mile hike up there. We were deer hunting during early archery. Mid day heard a bull bugle above us. Pretty easy sound to remember. So they are up above the valley. Never seen them down low tho.
