Title: Eastern Wa Whitetail rut timing..........?

Anybody care to share when they think the peak of the NE Whitetail rut typically is?

I'm a complete Whitetail noob, but I have access to some land that I think is pretty good.

Post by: huntnnw on November 05, 2019, 10:07:29 PM: the more northern units the peak of the rut is a full week sooner than units more south. I have seen the rut peak around the 15-19th up in 101,204 and in the 124,127 is usually Nov 20-25th

Agreed with this. Those last few days of late rifle the rut is usually ramping up. First few days of late archery is about peak from my experience

Couple of smaller bucks and 8 does and fawns. Not seeing any others around doing any sniffing around either. Maybe towards the latter part of the hunt they'll show a little interest. Seemed to me last year it was closer to the 1st of December before they got really active.Mule deer we're more towards the end of December.

:yeah: I cant speak to units 124 & 127 but that's pretty spot on for 101 & 204.

They rolled the season back so they had a spot to drop in the 5 permit tags..........the only reason. A bit of pre activity right now, and Ive seen actual breeding as late as 12-3....last year.

If I had to choose first part or last part of the season, it would be the last.......but Ive seen it red hot day one as well. Dont miss any of it unless you have to.

Post by: Moe the Sleaze on November 06, 2019, 03:55:18 PM: Further.... The multi-season tagholders can usually catch some of the peak. Hunt the last couple days of modern, then the first couple days of muzzy. I've got a solid 45 years hunting NE corner; that's what I've come away with. Good luck!

So it appears, they are wandering a little more. I've only been out glassing two evenings but I haven't seen any bucks with does. I'll be pulling my cams on the 22nd and hope to see some more decent bucks, I've got a friend and his 10 year old coming for the Boy's first hunt on the 29th for late muzzy.

The private land I usually hunt was not as productive during Modern General as I had hoped but I lucked out and killed a pretty decent 4x4 on some FFTH ground. Hopefully I can get the little man on a legal deer of any sort.
