Title: WOLVES IN UNIT 117 "CALISPELL MEADOWS"
Post by: lunchbox on November 20, 2019, 07:11:50 AM: My buddy and I hunted for 8 days in GMU 117 for the late Whitetail. Ive never seen so much Wolf traffic in my life! We only saw a handfull of deer the entire trip we had to change areas the last few days and my hunting partner killed a little 3 point in GMU 121. Something needs to be done about the WOLVES i fear its already to late.....

Post by: rudysts on November 20, 2019, 07:20:11 AM: I had the same experience in 117 with wolves the area I hunted was almost void of deer. I also think cougars are a big culprit in the decline of deer.

Post by: LDennis24 on November 22, 2019, 07:07:12 AM: South side of Calispell Peak and Winchester rd along the top and the powerline cut have had LOTS of cougar sightings. Everyone I know who went up there this year saw a cougar or fresh cougar sign. Go get um tag holders!

I hold alot of access to highly coveted areas up there. Yes wolves are present up there, but we have no problems filling our tags for the n that area.

Fairly new to the NE corner hunting so trying to learn the land a little bit. Been exploring like crazy for the last few years. One area I scoured quite a bit was calispell peak area. One day in August I saw 3 black wolf pups in about 100 yards of road, just pass the meadow. Wish I could figure out how to post the pics but I have them.

Post by: hal on February 21, 2020, 09:14:38 AM: We are in 204 for the last 12 years. Have not seen any wolves but the cats are taking over. I have 3 maybe 4 on camera on our 60 acres. We have seen them all hours of the day and night. Of course, you never see them with a gun in your hand. The problem is such that we worry about our 7 and 4 year old granddaughters playing outside.
