Wow! I’m liking those dates for early Western Archery for 2020!

Does this mean there won't be a early antlerless season for the yakima units in 2020?

That's my guess.  I don't think there was supposed to be one for archery last year either.  They proposed no general season and a permit only season for early antlerless.  There was a push at the public meetings and they changed it back to a general season and eliminated the permits is how I think it went.  There is still a proposed general antlerless late season.

Did you notice deer season gets shorter each year by a day?
Must be a calendar thing....

You're right, and I've been really looking forward to hunting blacktails on November 1st. I'm assuming they added the extra day to give people a full weekend since it's such a short season, with the opening being on the 17th. Although there have been plenty of times we've had a October 17 to 31 season. Maybe they realize with the overall dissatisfaction that people have with the way deer hunting is going in this state, that license sales will take a hit and they're trying to help alleviate that somewhat by giving us the one extra day.

I'm guessing that with the shorter season and November 1st being a Sunday, they chose to give us a full weekend for the last weekend.

Anyone know where to find the number of quality tags they are planning to give out in 2020?

Dont worry about it, you wont draw one.  I think $12 on 2 raffle tickets will give you better odds than a $13 quality app fee anyway, not to mention a WAY better tag.   :twocents:

I don’t want to know those numbers. It will probably be worse than last year.

Please explain.  Of course which quality permit, and how msny points involved has to be considered.

The better tag part, thats inarguable.  Sept 1- dec 31, ADDITIONAL bull elk, any weapon, any unit with any sort of branched bull hunt.

Pick the most sought as fter quality elk hunts.  Find the total number of applicsnts, and the aversge points held by those applicants.  Then get back to me.  We may as well base this off of the very best quality permits, since even those are an absolute joke compared to a raffle tag

You are correct on the way better tag part, but not the better odds.  You may have been assuming I was using a certain weapon or applying for certain units. With the amount of points I have and units I will be applying for I have decent odds of drawing a tag even with the low numbers.  Also I did draw a Sheep tag this year with only 5 points, so that helps my optimism. :tung:
