Title: first hare
Post by: flyfishWA on February 25, 2020, 05:40:18 PM: got my first snowshoe hare today with my 22 while checking traps. 10 yard head shot in an old overgrown clearcut off of the old logging road.

But, how did snowshoes evolve to where they turn white in certain environments, but remain brown year around in other environments.
Why isnt there, through evolution/adaptation, just a different kind of hare/rabbit filling that spot in that environment.

they are a lot more stringy and gamey than cottontail rabbits. I didn't find any worms in it, but I haven't found worms in cottontails in this area either.
