Post by: black hog on April 25, 2020, 03:55:26 PM
Ok Remington guys I just got a 700 in a 7mm ultra mag it's the one with the key safety lock my problem with it is about half the time the firing pin doesn't stay locked back when you run the bolt I haven't shot it yet I'm concerned it will fire when I close the bolt any help would be greatly appreciated

Is this what your rifle has.
Here's an artical, sounds like it very common to covert it and get rid of the locking crap.

Sounds like sear engagement issues to me.

Jlocks suck but that’s purely a sear engagement issue. I can’t remember if the j locks still had the good adjustable trigger, if so someone set the screw too deep and you just need to turn it back. If it’s the stupid x Mark or whatever that thing is sealed and it’s easier to just buy a replacement timney. Take the stock off and look at what kind it has

I was afraid I would lock it and forget it,so I took mine off, didn't want to go hunting with it locked and no key.
