And no, I'm not suggesting that we shut down hunting and fishing for 100 years.

If somebody dies at 100+ years old, they didnt die from a pandemic. They died from being 100+ years old.

:chuckle: :yeah:

In other words, if you are 100 years old and one of your potential heirs gets tired of waiting for an inheritance and they either poison you or shoot you in the head, the victim didn't die from that poisoning or shooting. They died from old age. Thank you for that clarification.
BTW, for those inclined toward historical accuracy and the dictates of cause and effect, the infant twin died from the Spanish "Flu" pandemic and the 100 year old twin died from COVID-19 pandemic.

Ridiculous comparison. No matter how healthy or young you are, if youre poisoned or shot in the head (properly) its going to kill you. A 100 year old that dies from the rona would have died from pretty much any little cold or flu. His healthy 30 year old relative would have survived the flu that killed great great grandpa but would have died just the same from a bullet to the head. Hence, it was age that killed the old boy.

That cracked me up. "properly" :chuckle:

The rona is kinda like Momma in Waterboy.........…the Rona is the devil. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Ridiculous response. Advanced age or underlying health problems are contributing factors but are not causes. BTW, the 1918 Spanish Flu really went after the young, the strong and the otherwise healthy. COVID has simply targeted a different group, such as "great great grandpa"......the Spanish Flu would targeted "his healthy 30 year old relative".

So if you have COPD, die due to respiratory failure while infected with Covid, what's the cause of death?
I could argue that Covid was the contributing factor and Respiratory failure was the cause. :dunno:

I would say that COPD was an underlying factor (as are diabetes and immune disorders) that can be aided with medical treatment and that the arrival of COVID overwhelmed the body's systems and actually caused the death. No COVID, the person would have lived longer.

My grandfather passed while living with COPD (8 years ago).
He got the flu, then pneumonia, then passed. His cause of Death was described by his Dr as "Respiratory Failure" Not the Flu, or pneumonia.

According to the stories passed down my grandmother was very sick as a child during the Spanish Flu Pandemic, So far she has not had this latest Flu.
She is healthy right now, if she gets the Wu-flu and dies that is what did it. If she gets hit by a bolt of lighting then that did it. If she passes in her sleep and was not being treated for anything then old age is the cause. Granted at 105 she is way more at risk from a great deal of things I imagine, but cause of death should not change based on age because at what age do we start?
That's my opinion, why over complicate things?
