Jameson lake and wapato lake come to mind. Both have campgrounds

Alta might be a good choice, not sure how far you want to go.  And, it's not quite to the "Go home, locals only" sign.😎

Don't know anything about recent stocking or road closures due to washouts/snow.  But Takhlakh Lake in GPNF was a bite a cast, last time I was there years ago, and dispersed camping in the GPNF abounds.

Flowing Lake is 10 minutes from Lake Stevens and it was stocked on May 5th.  I don't know if the camp ground is open.

I know the ramp is closed, I'm not sure about the campground.  The other ramp was a total zoo.

If you want a place on the West Side, head down Ike Kinswa State Park on Mayfield Lake. Kids can fish from shore and have a great chance of catching fish.
If you want to go to the East Side, it would be hard to beat Lake Curlew. My boys would limit of the dock at Fisherman's Cove Resort and at Tiffany's every day.

Both are great suggestions. Mayfield is a good all around lake with many species, plus they just stocked it!

I have never been skunked at Mayfield.
We were trolling Double Whammys with 1/2 a nightcrawler threaded between the two hooks with a little tail, my son's pole tip dove into the water. he could barely hold the pole as line streamed out. It took a bunch off line then stopped. I yelled Reel! He starts reeling the line back in when my younger son yells and point at the side of the boat. We all look down, and there is a massive Tiger Muskie just staring at us on the surface with a Double Whammy in it's mouth. My older son was still reeling like crazy, and I said told on to you pole if he takes off! The musky just sat there until my son reeled up the slack and it pulled at the hook. In a blink, and a huge splash it took off and snapped the line. Later we saw a 10 pounder at the boat ramp, my son's dwarfed it by twice the length and girth. Honestly have no clue what I would have done with it if we were able to catch it besides get it mounted, LOL.

If you feel like heading east, Park Lake (Sun Lakes) has been great for us. Fishing and weather have always been fantastic.

Those tiger muskies are a blast! I was doing some snorkeling in about 5 ft deep of water in a stump filled cove, came around a stump and was face to face with one...😬. It’s crazy to watch them roll and jump for food that is sitting on top of the water.

We went to Jameson lake for the weekend jacks resort was pretty busy.  Fishing was great kids had a blast caught lots of fish in that 12inch range.  Biggest of the weekend was a 17 incher.

Very nice. We had reservations to camp there for the original opener but didn't go back when it did actually open. Many good memories there!

Just curious about the situation there.  We have being going to Jack's Resort in mid-May for the past 18 years.  That is one of my favorite places to camp and fish.  Were they able to open the restaurant?  Thinking about taking a trip over there next month.  Anna and Ginger are just super people.  We really hope that this virus doesn't put a huge dent in their business.
And it is a great place for kids to fish.  Lots of places to fish right from the shore.
