Alright so I bought a 300 win mag blr with 2 mags a few years ago for 325.00 bucks off armslist. Was just sitting in my safe and actually never had plans to shoot it. Well I ran into a fella on another site who had a nosler m48 in 26 nosler heritage model with aftermarket muzzle brake 57 rnds down the chamber. Just so happens he was looking for a magnum lever. So I did the trade straight up. Sounds brilliant as his receipt showed he paid 1699.00 for the rifle plus the brake. So basically I only shoot .264 calibers now 2 6.5 creed's and three 6.5x284 . Tons of bullets and powder and thousand of federal gmm large rifle primers. Expensive hobby. Well this here 26 nosler is a whole another creature. 2.50 each for brass. Only powder I have that will work is 1 pound of retumbo and I doubt I'll see more of that so the search is on for a new powder plus bullet choice for me is between 140 gr hvld or 143 gr eldx. Neither get rave reviews for this chambering. So since I have 5 rifle that shoot between 2700 and 3000 fps with those bullets do I go up to a larger bullet or down to a mono like barnes or hammer. Since barrel life is even shorter than my 6.5x284 I dont want to spend alot of resources chasing my tail. This will strictly be used for hunting. Any help would be appreciated or call me an idiot for getting into such an expensive overbore cartridge. Thanks

I’ve only loaded for one 26 Nosler. 140 g partition in front of RL 33. Only going 3150, so we aren’t getting everything out of the rifle, but the owner won the rifle and isn’t a long range guy. Shoots sub MOA and is a one shot wonder on game.
