I have an unexplainable fascination with these, ever since viewing one in a local gun store.

Show yours off. Sporterized or original milsurp configuration; it doesn't matter.

My dad has a sporterized, it was the first center fire rifle I shot as a kid and one of the many reasons I still shoot 30-06 caliber.

That said, it's a pretty spooky gun with the way the safety works and I was lucky to hit a paper plate at 100 yards.  Both could be attributed to me or that specific rifle as I've only shot one and the last time I shot it was probably 25 years ago.

Previously loved sporters can be picked in the neighborhood of $250-400 all day.  A decent stock and a trigger might make a decent shooter into a fine shooter with some character.
