Hey everyone,
I’ve been on the site a while but rarely post and mostly just research and read. However I just found out I drew the nooksack tag!!!!
I’ve spent quite a bit of time on parts of that unit when I was younger hiking around with my dad since he lived in Lyman for years so I’m kinda familiar with it. Unfortunately he’s not with us anymore so I can’t benefit from all the knowledge of that unit he had.
I’m certainly not looking for any personal information but if any of you could point me in the right direction or help with access type info I’d really really appreciate it.
After trying to draw this tag for 12 years I just wanna give this hunt everything I can!!!!!
Also if anyone has some pics of bulls from unit to help get me pumped (not that I need any more excitement 😂) I’d love to see em.
Thanks a ton and I hope y’all drew some good tags this year too!

I'm pretty sure everybody who gets a nooksack elk tag gets access to sierra land. They'll send info packets out later with a combo for the locks I think, that seems to be where most guys go with that tag

Ok I thought I had heard that’s how it worked with this tag but wasn’t sure.
Thanks

Here is my muzzleloader bull from last year. If you wanna talk shoot me a pm and ill call you. Alot of great ground in there. I wanna go back.
-
Well this hunt sure had its challenges from early dates, hot weather, heavy tribal pressure and then finally fire closures.
Fortunately we were able to close the deal on this bull last Sunday. A great hunting partner and some hard work payed off.
Hope all the other tag holders kill some giants in the late season!!

Did those picture work? Not sure I did it right.....
-
I open the file and there is nothing there.
-
Yeah pics dont work. What i have found is you gotta screen shot the pic you wanna post and then, post the screen shot.
-
Have to re-size pictures the file is too big to post if you try to post regular size.
-
I think Ivan is going to post them for me.
-
Hurry up Ivan!!!!! :IBCOOL:
-
I hope this works

Great bull and the pics are not upside down.
-
Right on. We seen alot of bulls like that. Thats about what most people should exspect out of this unit. Great job guys
-
Yeah this year was different than most I think. 85-95 degrees and 1/3 of the unit closed to only walk in access. Pretty tough to find many bulls plus they just aren’t quite in the rut like they are in muzzy season.
-
Sure is beautiful up there though! And it was just so fun
-
Great job ! Good looking bull !
-
Well done
-
Great bull and congrats!
-
Congrats on a getting it done, great bull!

I like that bull i would shot him in a heart beat........

My memory must suck. I drew this tag as well. I don’t remember you from the SPI meeting? Did you not attend the meeting?
-
i know you put in the work and did meet you up on the mnt. I also know where he was packed out from and you guys earned him. Congrats on finding a nice bull. I spent days watching that bull before he lost the heard to a smaller 6 that i did make a play on. way to get it done and represent for us archers. Thank you also for sharing info after your hunt to help my search for what i was looking for. Looks like that elk gave a load of clean meat and memories for a lifetime. Cheers!

Congrats on a successful hunt!

Yeah I feel for you and all the tag holders for sure. No one says “is it January yet” but you gotta get your mindset right for it. Y’all will get some giants in the winter hunt. I know it’s not what we draw this tag for but at this point it’s your best option and I look forward to seeing those bulls!
It was great meeting you up there and if you wanna dm me we can stay in touch.

Definitely some really bad ground in there.
Congratulations!
