Is it possible to fix a fish mount or is it a lost cause?
-
Depends on what is wrong with it, if it is cracked it can be fixed and repainted, if the fins are broken they can be removed and plastic fins put in their place. If it is really cracked then it is hard to fix those..
Put a picture up if you can.

Here you go. It is a hand me down. Just want to see if it would be to much to fix or what.

Doesn't look that bad. Would need to actually look at it to see if it is bug infested etc etc. Other than that it looks in good shape. Little fin patch work and epoxy work and you should have a good looking fish mount.
How old is the mount? Scales look good. Don't look like they are popping up any where. It's fun when you have to glue them down individually. The fins are a little rough but I think most can be repaired. If not they can be replaced.

I agree with Michelle, not bad of a repair job, other thing is and it cant be fixed the mouth is open way to much.

Yeah, that is typiclly normal for a lot of taxidermists that mount fish. Mostly though on Large Mouth Bass. I saw it a LOT down south. Even to the point a live fish would have never been able to open his mouth that far.
