Title: Westport halibut
Post by: blackpowderhunter on August 17, 2020, 07:02:59 AM
Thinking of either taking the boat out to the coast to westport for a last minute hali run or up to the san juans this upcoming weekend for some more prawns.
I'll be honest and say i've never fished halibut out of westport, just la push, neah, and the straits.  it seems like this year is pretty strange with regards to the fact that we're able to fish hali in august, so was just seeing if anyone had any general tips/areas where i'd find them this time of year out of west port.

Pretty much due west out to the shelf edge. 600-700 fow.

When you see 20-40 boat's on the same patch of ground your in the right spot.

It's the same as lapush pretty much.

And if the wx holds I wouldn't even think of running out a Westport this week.

i was guessing that was likely the case.
regarding the wx, i'll watch for changes as the weekend nears, but yes i agree it's looking sporty.
