My hunting partner and I are adult-onset hunters in our late 40s. We have decades of serious backcountry experience, but just picked up archery and bowhunting a few years ago. We both drew Lopez second deer tags and are planning 8-9 days in mid September on the Island. Forum reports of Lopez hunts and generous information have been great for background information. Very much appreciated!
I'd never ask you for specific spots, but would appreciate knowing if our plan sounds okay or it's way off base. If you have some Lopez experience let me know and I'll send you what we're thinking.
Thanks for any advice you have. We're pretty flexible and eager to learn, so if our plan is stupid just say so ;) We're big boys and can handle being told we're being idiots.
Thanks again for all your trip reports and advice in the forum over the years!

Ask for specific spots on Lopez, these are mostly backyard deer, it's not like you're going to harvest somebody's trophy they've been watching for 4yrs.

They don’t refer to them as island deer for no reason :chuckle: Minnie deer! here’s a Lopez buck and yes that's a standard size yard sign

This deer is standing proud supporting Culp. I say he deserves to stay around a while longer.

Look at the blm spots I had some luck in there. That is a lot of time to hunt there but there is a few places to go that are not private. Feel free to pm me if you had specific questions.

If you need anymore help or want some more information PM me. The family and I grew up hunting out there and have had alot of fun on Lopez. Lots of people will let you hunt there land if you ask for permission ahead of the hunt. Alot of people out there love their deer. It's a tough place to be in. As long as your not trespassing you will be just fine. Lopez deer love coming into a bucket of smashed apples.

PMs sent to everyone. Not showing up in my "sent" messages, so I'm not sure they're being received. I do really appreciate the replies though!!!!
