Title: Are all Public Lands Closed for the Opener? Or just DNR Lands?

Only DNR land in eastern Washington is closed. I'm surprised WDFW hasn't closed their land.

what do you mean by Wdfw land? Is this Wdfw land?

I mean state land that is managed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. From the photo you posted I don't know if that's DNR, WDFW, State Parks, Department of Transportation, etc.

Try looking here and you you'll be able to see most of the land owned/managed by the WDFW:

OnX shows up as State of Washington for the DRN, and I believe most if not all of them are managed by DNR.

https://www.dnr.wa.gov/publications/eng_rms_state_trust_lands_map_sm2.pdf?hbq2ig

Based on that map, it looks like a trust land, but would still be considered DNR.

The WDFW Wildlife areas on that map are considered Other Public Lands and are still open.

I called yesterday and spoke to a young lady at WDFW, and the Region 3 biologist last night. DNR lands are closed until at least Friday, but gates are open to all lands. You can access WDFW or other not closed land via DNR, you just can't recreate on DNR land right now (which includes hunting).
hopefully, they open it up Friday or Saturday. I didn't realize how many different entities own land? Look at the maps on "Places to Hunt" on the WDFW website and you'll see color coded maps showing land ownership. I couldn't tell by looking at it if private land was color coded? its not easy to tell what's what.

Any guesses based upon past experience when we are going to see DNR land open again?  I'd much rather be hunting "Plan A".

Probably won't open back up until there is significant rain.

Just saw a DNR news release, closure extended to September 17th. But I would expect they'll extend that further unless we really get a lot of rain. Most of the rain, if we get any, will be on the west side.

Typing in Naches on Weather Underground shows the first signs of moisture next Tuesday, but only 25%

GPNF has closed a decent amount. I made a map if anyone wants to see it. I just got off the phone with some one at the Trout Lake RS and they said that they confirmed another fire popping off in the Indian Heaven Wilderness area so I expect them to close off more of that area coming up real quick. 2020 just keeps on plowing through all plans.

DNR Extends Recreation Closure on Eastern Washington Lands Due To Fire Danger
News Date:
SEPTEMBER 10, 2020

Ongoing fires and critical fire danger lead to extension through Thursday, September 17

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is extending the closure of all of the lands it manages east of the Cascades to recreation due to high fire danger through Thursday, September 17. DNR staff will evaluate the possibility of extending the closure, originally enacted Tuesday, as the next week progresses.

Critical wildfire danger and ongoing fires in the area warranted the extension of the closure, as Labor Day saw a rash of new fires ignite all around the state, with one destroying the town of Malden, and another leading to the death of a 1-year-old.

“Closing recreation to the public is a difficult decision, and one we do not take lightly, but the risk to public safety and our firefighters is too great to take chances with,” said Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz, the elected official who oversees DNR. “Hundreds of thousands of acres of land have burned since Monday, and our resources are fully deployed. But we cannot risk having more human-caused fires right now.

“I know how important hunting season is to so many Washingtonians, but we are in the middle of a historic wildfire event.”

The below-normal precipitation and above-normal temperatures for DNR’s Northeast and Southeast regions is forecast to continue, with the hot and dry weather further extending the risk of large wildfires east of the Cascades.

With no lightning this week or in the forecast for the next few days, the overwhelming majority of wildfires DNR is responding to are presumed to be human-caused. The agency has responded to more than 100 fires caused by recreation already this year.

DNR will announce the reopening of its public lands to recreation when it again becomes safe to do so.

The statewide moratorium on timber harvest activities on DNR-managed lands is expected to lift by Friday.

Hunters with concerns about their tags should contact the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. For a map of DNR-managed lands, click here.

Well, Franz will definitely not be getting my vote this year.

This is why we can’t have nice things.  Neighbors in the Methow this week, AFTER the explosive day we had in Okanogan county and standing in a cloud of wildfire smoke, have had to explain to people at campgrounds that there is a burn ban.  Ship has sailed for politeness regarding these interactions for me.

I suspect the people who’ve lost homes (approximately 80 in Malden), crops, and worse, loved ones (I don’t know the number, but if they were my loved ones, one is too many) probably feel differently.

Can't argue with that. I'm just frustrated that everything else is still open in the state, including all state land managed by WDFW, national forest, blm, etc. But the state closes DNR on the eastside only even though it's always extremely dry over there but yet DNR on the Westside is still open even when the fire danger is the highest its been on the Westside in decades.
