I'll have more for a write up later, but I gotta head off to school. We killed these birds about an hour apart last night after we finally found some birds that weren't henned up super bad. Both had 8" beards. Mine had 5/8" spurs, Justin's had just under 1/2" spurs...typical for two years olds in that country.

After being on super henned up birds at light, we finally found another bird at noon. Where we were it was so open though that only came to two hundred yards, stood in the same spot and gobbled for about ten minutes, and left. He figured he should have been able to see the hen, being as I could see him. Oh well. We relocated in the evening, and struck gold. About 5:30 we were walking down the road, hadn't even called yet, and a hen yelped about 60 yards away. We made a mad dash to set up. After yelping back and forth for about ten minutes, I could hear the gobbler spit & drum. He ran out into the road 3/4 strut with the hen running behind him, and got in full strut when he hit the road. I had to wait for the hen to move (I didn't want to take her with him), then he popped his head up at 15 steps and I shot him. Then we walked up the hill about a half mile, yelping a lot because it was so windy. Finally we got an answer really close at about 6:30 to some cuts, and set up real quick. I guess when Dad and Justin sat down they could already hear him spitting. I yelped a few more times, but he was already committed. He popped out of strut and Justin shot him at about 12 yards. We may have been set up on that bird for three minutes, a flash hunt for sure. Oh and I just talked to Dad, and Justin called in a bird for him this morning...9" beard, 5/8" spurs. Its been a great two days for sure.

Those would make beautiful rattlin horns wouldn't they? No, Justin found those earlier... apparently they helped get our chi together, so they deserved a spot in the pic.

Fishhunt247: I met you the other day at Jerry's house. Great looking birds. I got mine the very next morning. Looking forward to the write up on these birds. I'm compiling all the Turkey hunting stories from the Hunt-WA site into a single document. I'll make the booklet available to the site.

Actually you met my younger brother, but he told me he stopped by Jerry's. Glad you got one. And good idea on the stories. Will have more on the way ;)

I was a very fun day for us! I owe fishunt247 a lot of thanks for the awsome calling, He could have left to go back to his house after he killed his but he stuck around and helped pull mine in.
