The area I am hunting is flat. I probably will have to pass on shots that don't have adequate backstop. I am taking my spotting scope, chair and blind and if I see a deer way in the distance hope he heads toward me.

Perhaps hunting with a shotgun will make it less dangerous to take a shot. Of course if you're hunting from a chair, then the buck's going to have to get pretty close.

I hear you, my go to spot here in a few weeks is the same way, making sure I'm in the right spot and hopefully knowing where they come from makes the difference between a shot and not. Last year, I was close but ended up passing on a skyline shot, glad I didn't take it but the tag soup wasn't tasty.
