I bought my son a new 2017 Wrangler Unlimited. Put 35s and a lift on it. Have not had one problem with it. Not overly fancy rig on the inside, but wasnt that expensive either.
Ours has had a couple issues that were covered by warranty. The rear right caliper locked up at 19k miles. The transmission had an issue too, can’t remember what it was, but it was stuck in 2nd gear.

As to the four door jeeps, my neighbor went through 3 of them in less then six months! Bad rear axles, faulty transmission tube. Don't remember what he experienced with the third one, but he didn't bring home another one.
Wish I'd have kept my 73 Wagoneer!! 360 with a four speed behind it, ran like a champ! I'll stick with my 92 YJ and just keep fixing it!

ALL new rigs will give you problems at some point.

My brother in law had a 2015 that got lemon lawed. The rear diff was constantly screwed up.

Depends what you want it for. If you like off-road vehicles and understand that it’s a 4x4 first and a street vehicle second then they’re great. Expect a cushy comfortable daily highway cruiser and only use it for groceries and you’ll hate it. Don’t lift it correctly (expensive) and it will drive like crap. Put 35s on it without regearing and it will feel very gutless. Basically if you aren’t willing to put the money into it and you aren’t a Jeep person that’s willing to put up with its quirks, a different route may be the better option.
:yeah: Ours is a dang mall crawler, no way would the boss let it go off road. If it was used as an off road vehicle I would be more pleased with it. However for around town/highway use it is miserable.

Opinion? You asked for it.So are you talking Mopar as a whole or just the Jeep side? I would put my Ram 2500 up against any truck. Not all people that own Jeeps are part of that Jeep community either. My Grand Cherokee is the first Jeep we have ever owned.

I bought a 2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo with 110K miles. At 120K, one off the serpentine pulleys sheared off the block. At 122K, the heads blew - new engine. Then the heater core at 130K. Water pump shortly after. The seat construction is horrible with band metal supporting the seats - also replaced at 130K. The actuators went out at 150K. The weather stripping died then, too. Other than a Willy's, I wouldn't purchase another one of those pieces of crap if it were free...because it would cost too much to keep on the road. Do I sound jaded? You bet I am!That era usually has alot of electrical issues, sounds like you got a good one :chuckle:

I can still work on it and it will take me anyplace I'm stupid enough to point it at.
Looked at the Gladiator but the dealer became upset when I asked about a 2 door version.
Says hes getting tired of that question.:)

Six different families in my neighborhood have multiple (more than two) Rubicons, One family has five, all built for rock-crawling, Mom, Dad, and all three kids.
They all belong to an Serious Rubicon Off-road club and make multiple runs to Moab, Utah a year and are out almost every weekend. They are serious rock-crawlers.
The point?
If you are looking for a very good off-road vehicle, and can put up with how an offroad vehicle drives daily, and understand they will nickel and dime you, as will all offroad vehicles, then a Jeep might be for you.
I have owned four Jeeps over the years. Two went over 280k miles. The other two I traded in for another Jeep
They all have quirks. Two I kept pretty much stock, the other two were built to trail and crawl.
As I was reading this thread, I saw a jeep pull into the parking lot at my office bldg. Never seen one like this before....looks sweet to me.
That is the Jeep Gladiator.

I thought it was just the pic that made it look a little shorted, you are correct.
The gutter do not continue back to the "add-on" extended part, and all Gladiators are four door.
