I've got an alaknak and like it.   What does the Kodiak offer that makes it great?  Hoping this helps the OP.

I have a bighorn with a wood stove if you want to go that route.

Buddy had an alaknak this last weekend hunting in high winds and the ridge pole went through it and made a hole.  I have the Kodiak Canvas and can tell you there is no comparison in foul weather!

I have a big Kodiak Canvas tent and it’s awesome. Strong. Does well in foul weather. Easy to setup with even one person. Spacious. All the good things!

I was looking into getting the 12x12 Kodiak but they've been on B/O for awhile now so was forced because of delivery delays (latest ETA is Nov 4 for restock) as Kodiak tents come from china, bought the 12x12 Alaknak tent and used it 12 days archery elk hunting with it having even rained heavily a few days and had no issues (Except when putting it up the center pole is very tight fit) and when sliding bottom of pole into position had the top go through top off tent,   had to zip tie hole closed and put a towel on top of pole to spread the distribution of pressure and was able to get to work, this is only issue with Alaknak that I've had so far... they have a nice heavy webbing to put bottom of pole in on floor but they don't do anything for top of pole   :bash:  ... Cabales exchanged no questions asked for a new one....

I have had bighorn, wall tent and kodiak in my time and they all have their advantages. What I like about the Kodiak is it is quick and easy to set up, well built and can withstand the weather. Biggest complaint we had about the bighorn was condensation when running buddy heater. No condensation issues when running buddy heater in Kodiak.
