Looks like he is lying on a road, does that make you a road hunter :chuckle:

I don't see any blood. I bet you've trained him to pose for photos!

Well, the recap is less exciting than some but I'm very pleased. I took today and yesterday off hoping to get some walking in. Hit up a easy walking part of sultan basin and was in place as the sun came up or out o should say. I know the does travel up and down between the sections of reprod and cuts so i planned to cover ground and catch something trailing does as the moved. Good sign of active trails and at one point i swear i could smell a rutty ol buck. Kept going. Working my way along. Crested a little rise a saw an ear flicker right on the edge of the gravel. Buck. I could see horn but at 75 yards or so i didn't look long. Gun up, off hand, got on him, boom goes the 25 06, he vanishes in the massively huge :chuckle: recoil. I did take a second to slide my muffs on so i didn't hear the whap of bullet meeting meat. Muffs off. No sound at all. Hmmm. I slowly walk over, there he is. Bang flop butt over tea kettle. He was dead before he landed. Took him high in the shoulder.....that little 115 gr berger blew out 3 inches of upper shoulder and spine. I had actually gotten a text from my mom right after the shot. Being a good boy I called her up. She immediately went into mom mode....are you okay, you sound strange, are you hurt? Said nope, just shot a deer and as we speak I'm laying hands on him for the first time. Kinda cool. Sent some t3xts then got to work. Field dressed and cut up and stuffed everything in my pack and started walking
Got the heart simmering now, back strap for dinner, liver cubed up for dog treats, and all meat is cooling. Perfect morning.
