Title: Had to put my hunting partner to sleep last week looking to fill that void
Post by: bwgdc on October 31, 2020, 08:09:33 PM
When I was deer hunting last weekend my 14 y/o Brittany had heart problems in the middle of the night and the wife and daughter had to have her put to sleep. She was my best hunting partner gonna miss her like crazy. She got to hunt a few times this year and did amazing for an old slow girl. I am already feeling a huge void in the house with her gone and thinking I need to get another bird dog. I am leaning toward an English pointer but I know very little on breeders for them I don’t want a puppy does anyone know of a good line of them and someone who is selling a finished dog?

Have you looked into Braque Francias?
If you enjoyed your Brittnay it might be worth the look.
So sorry for your loss.

I have contact information for a Springador (Springer/Lab) Breeder.  If you change your mind DM me for the number. My 1.5 yo female is a natural hunter and great family dog.

One of the best bird dogs I ever owned was a springador aka linger.

That was the reason I got my little Springador. My best hunting dog earlier in life was a cross of English setter and Golden Retriever, best damn dog. So I started searching out a similar mix, cross of two pure bred hunting breeds. They tend to not get the genetic issues that the purebreds get and actually exhibit the strengths of each breed very well. This Springador has the making to be one of the best hunting dogs I’ve hunted behind.

Sorry for your loss. A lot of times a mans best partner isn't another man or woman but a dog. I am regretting the day when I have to put my older Brittany down. I say get another Brit it will make you feel better.

Hi so I know of a new gundog rescue that has a finished pointer. Believe he was a GWP. I was told he's a FT washout and is around 4 years old. Had been professionally trained. Whoa trained, CC'd, whistle trained, staunch point. If you're interested their website is https://gundogsrescue.com/

Please reach out asap if you might be interested.

I feel your pain.  My dogs Final day is getting very close, it's actually probably here and I'm just being selfish keeping her alive.  She's still eating, but has trouble walking, can't hear, can barely see.  It's hard seeing her the way she is, but she still greets me with a wagging tail when I get home from work after she finally sees me.
