Just a shot in the dark here, but if anyone knows of a landowner in GMU 124 with a doe on their property that is open to letting a 10 year old fill a tag, I'd love to get in contact (note he's good at washing cars, mowing lawns, and the like :)).
This year was supposed to be my son's first deer hunt, but due to an unexpected family issue we had to head out of town during the general season and weren't able to go hunting. With that set back I'm going to try and get him into 124 for the any deer youth hunt this weekend. Never been to that unit before, but I see that Inland Empire Paper pass is highly recommended. We'll plan on exploring over there, but fingers crossed someone is tired of the deer in their field :)

wondering how the hunt turned out for you locdown21? Mainly because I am looking to do the same thing. Any suggestions?

We had fun. We bumped into deer on public ground but never had a real shot opportunity that wasn't either too far away or at a moving white flag :). We ended up knocking on some doors and got to sit on a farmer's field the last evening. A doe walked up behind us within 20 yards, but as soon as my son went for his rifle it was game over. That was about right at last shooting light so it made the ride home a bit depressing for the first time hunter. However, it was our first time ever in that area, so I was happy that we got into some deer and had a solid chance in only two days. I would recommend knocking on some doors. We got in on our fourth try, but first three doors were willing, they just already had someone else hunting their property.
