Title: Red fish down south - Kayaks
Post by: I-Snipe-Varmints on November 10, 2020, 09:56:56 PM
Just took a trip down south for reds. We got some slot reds on 2 sessions. Here's some of the nicer ones.

I got this one 27 incher in less than 6 inches of water.

We crossed the bay - a mile - in our kayaks and dragged our boats across a couple hundred yards of mud flats at low tide. You couldn't launch a boat for 2 hours since our launch, and found that there were a lot of pools where fish were trapped in. But fishing wasn't that easy. It took a while to find the slot fish and we had an awesome trip. We ran out some stingrays - I was worried about getting hit by one while crossing the flats on foot , dragging our boats. We saw a few but came out on top.

I used a trout spoon to catch my best fish. Considered unorthodox in the area but I am by nature unorthodox. I put fish in the boat.

My buddy's fish was about 25. We did get other fish but these were the best. I also had to release a 24 inch flounder (closed season).

Fished for them on two tides last week, no fish but a great scouting trip.  Thanks for the report!
