A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to harvest my first blacktail buck. Never thought I’d see a buck like this in the area I was hunting! What an incredible experience. I already can’t wait for next season.

Nice work! Welcome aboard

Nice blacktail ! Welcome to the addiction of blacktail hunting
-
Very nice blacktail.
-
Seriously. Love it when the antlers shine red like that. Great job!
-
Seriously, dandy buck, How long is the brow tine in the left side, its covered with tape?
-
Well that’s a great first black tail!!

Very nice four point. Hopefully your luck continues well into the future. Most of us only see spikes, forkies, and three by somethings. Homeboy did good!

Beautiful buck. congrats. that right there is a perfect representation of the species that will lead to many sleepless nights in your future.

Heck of a first post. Nicely done, a lot of blackie hunters hunt along time for one like that.
Can you post a pic of his teeth please?
-
Totally a solid buck. Congrats.

What a great first post!
Welcome, and nice Blacktail!

Wow, congrats! I've gotten at least 15 blacktail, and passed over many more, and still dont have one that nice. Well, unless hybrids count, but that's a story for another day.

Thank you all, I feel very fortunate to have had the chance to take a shot on this guy. I have spent the last 10 years or so salmon/steelhead fishing, and figured that I would enjoy hunting... finally pulled the trigger this year (no pun intended). I spent a lot of time studying and scouting, and it paid off. I couldn't have had a better way to start my hunting experience. I have no doubt I will be comparing every blacktail I see in my scope to my first!
I can't figure out how to respond to a specific post, but in answer to earlier questions - wadu1 the brow tine on the left side is just over 1/2" long. Boss, unfortunately I didn't take a picture of his teeth and elected to do a skull cap mount so I don't have them anymore!
I can't wait to learn more from all of you! Thanks for the support and welcoming me to the forum!
