Title: Christmas present: which e caller is the best???
Post by: trophyhunt on November 15, 2020, 10:54:15 AM
Told the wife that I wanted an e caller for Christmas, I’ve looked a bit and looks like they are around 350.00 for the (I’m assuming) better models.  Looking for advice from you guys that have experience and your thoughts on the best e caller out there. Also thinking the callers with the little tail that moves might be a good way to go?

Mostly looking to call in cats, but bears too.

Ive been looking at the IcoTec calls. They get some of their sounds from Wildlife Technologies. Also they let you download sounds from their website.

I've had good luck with a Foxpro paired with a Mojo Critter.  I've called in and shot yotes and bobcat. Incidentals include Mule Deer, hawks, ravens and magpies. Note in this picture that the female coyote came right up and put her nose on the caller while it was playing pup distress.  I was looking the other way with my binos but managed to shoot her before she got away.

I picked up an ICOtec Outlaw on sale at Cabela's for $297.99 just before Christmas. It's normally $400, but allows you to add audio files. I added Rainshadow's cougar vocals. It has called in 2 cougars so far. I have not used the decoy that comes with it, as the experts that I've learned from suggest keeping the call hidden so the cats don't hang up at a distance.
