Title: Mechanical release prohibited ???
Post by: rover747 on April 19, 2009, 12:39:21 PM: Hello ! I read in new regulation today ,mechanical release is prohibited :
It is unlawful to use any device secured to
or supported by the bow for the purpose
of maintaining the bow at full draw or in
a firing position, except persons with an
archery special use permit may hunt game
birds or game animals using a device that
stabilizes and holds a long bow, recurve
bow, or compound bow at a full draw, and
may use a mechanical or electrical release.
So we can't shoot release anymore ?? Or i am wrong ?? :dunno:
Damn this is very confusing :bash:

I believe the distinction is that it is not built into the bow. Such as a trigger mechanism...

Post by: colockumelk on April 19, 2009, 03:26:53 PM: Yeah the release they are talking about it for people with disabled permits who bow hunt. THere is a device that holds the bow back at full draw and then releases when the shooter wants it to. I believe that this is what they are referring to.

Basically they are trying to say that unless you are disabled and use a crossbow you basically have to use muscle power to hold the string back and make the shot. Whether or not you use something to pinch the string and release it. The Nevada regs on what is acceptable archery is much more clear with regards to the intent of the law.
