I have a question for all of you. This will be the last year that my wife and I hunt in WA because I am getting stationed somewhere else next year. So I want to dump all of my wifes points on a permit. She currently has 3 points. When I used to hunt with a ML about 6 years ago my family hunted down low around Hardy, Jones, Pine etc and it was a major rat race with people all over. So my question is this:
If I take my wife up high like around Dipping Vat, or Barber Springs etc in the Northern Part can I still expect a rat race of people up there or is there alot less people up there then down low? I want my wife to draw a cow permit but at the same time I want it to be a quality hunt without fighting the herd of hunters. So I guess I'm asking would it be worth putting my wife in for the Umtanum or should I go elsewhere? Again this is for my wife not me. I hunt with a bow and will just be a guide/slave/packmule for the wife. She's never killed an elk and I would really like to help her get a cow. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks

I haven't hunted it for probably 5 or 6 years, but when I did there were always a few people around. It wasn't as bad as if you stayed up on the ridge. That said, there were always elk around too. Couldn't you get a better cow tag with 3 points? I don't know since I haven't looked.
