Title: WHY !!!
Post by: robodad on April 20, 2009, 04:01:46 PM
Why doesn't my boat trailer license expire in June along with the f-ing boat that sits on it  >:( I went to the DMV and they charged me full price to relicense my boat trailer and it expires on April 27th 2009, Nope not a misprint because I gave the attendent the third degree saying that it should be good for a year but NOOOOOOOOO not the case, what a bunch of BS !!!

Why cant the boat and trailer expire on the same day, I cant use one without the other so WTF !!!

Oh yeah, Why does a cab over camper have to have a license plate and be regestered every year  :bash: That is just stupid !!

OK so is this post sorry !!!

Why didn't they just charge me full price and move my expiration date back 7 days  :dunno: or pro rate the 7 days and give me the license for the next year  :dunno: or charge me a pro rated rate so the damn trailer expiers in June like the boat, or maybe I want to use it before the 27th so I get to pay more  :dunno:

I agree with you NRA4LIFE, there should be no license on trailers unless they are being used commercially I think !!! as for truck campers, you got me on that one !!

It is remotely fishing related though !! but it can get nuked anyhow cause it is a completely useless thread and nothing but hatred and discontent will ever come of it anyhow so kill it before it reproduces !!!  :chuckle:

LOL  ;)  I feel your pain and know first hand what you went through! Happened to me last summer when my nephew wanted to head to an ORV sand dune park the NEXT DAY. So I head down to the DOL to get current tabs on my quad (which had not been licensed in years) they sold them to me and then I realized they were going to expire in 3 DAYS! After a very long (non productive) discussion with the clerk, I was back there the following week to do it again.   :bash:

we wont even GO there...DOL took my money online then never sent the plates...then sent the WRONG plates for the reg when i complained....then had to both register AND buy FREAKING MORE PLATES....so for one year they got 2 reg and 2 plates for one trailer for one boat...that nearly had the SAME thing happen. :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

I WONDER what controls there are on the online reg site....seems like tis never worked for me.  wind up paying double almost every time i USE it. >:( >:( >:(

Ok folks here is the reason that we have to pay for a camper for the truck, both boat and trailer, and anything eles that the state thinks it can get money for.

WE LIVE IN A STATE THAT LIVES ON RIPPING PEOPLE OFF, AND KNOWING THAT WE WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.. :kneel: :whoo:

Remember to keep those rowboat tabs up to date

Robo, I feel your pain, I was working in my garage last night and happened to notice my boat registration still says "June 2007" but my trailer was renewed "June 2008"? I looked up my paperwork and could not find my boats registration for 2008. Then talking to a friend at work today he said you do not have to register your boat "if" you do not go in the marine areas? I could not remember if this is why I did not register my boat for 2008 or not. :dunno:

So my question is, if I register my boat in June, for 2009, do I also then have to pay for 2008?

From what I understand your expiration date will remain the same no matter when you pay for the new tabs unless they have been expired for an entire year then they will issue a new expiration date as of the day you pay for the new ones. Make Sense ??

And if your boat has a WN number it needs to be regestered every year, has nothing to do with marine areas or not !!!  ;)

This state is bizarro in certain areas.  You have to title and license a $200 utility trailer but not even a title on a $22,000 tractor.  At least we don't have to tiltle outboards like in Missouri.  I had to title and license a $70 electric trolling motor.

boat does not have to be registered unless,
1- It is over 16', and
2-Has a motor larger than 10hp, and
3-Is used on "Federally Regulated" waters...

so as long as it is under 16', has a 9.9hp motor or smaller, and doesn't go on "federally regulated" waters, (like the sound, I presume), then you don't need to register it...i gotta register my trailer, but I don't register my boat...it's used just on the small lakes around here.

Not just the sound. Federal waters or "navigatable waters" will require licensing...The columbia for instance, is considered federal waters...so is lake washington IIRC. Odds are if it connects to the salt, or has a damn or locks, it's considered Federal.

There is a list of "Federal waters" for washington state somewhere out the internet...google-fu!
