Hey, y’all. I’m in the market for a rifle upgrade. I was wondering if there’s a website out there that has a database of all or most guns and can be filtered. I’m looking for something light, fiberglass stock, and cerakote barrel in 6.5 CM. I currently have a Weatherby and am fine sticking with them and getting something like a Weathermark, but am open to other options in the $1,500 range. It would be great if there was a database out there that I could filter and look at everything available. If not, I’m open to suggestions.
Thanks in advance

My first thought is to use a big box store like cabelas....use the drop downs and filters to get a working list....add in more semi customs on up to one like an RBros campgun option....i think they run 2k...now you have a decent list.

Buds guns has a lot of options as well

FWIW, there are several lifetimes of knowledge right here on this site. I seriously doubt there is a gun/shooting/hunting related question you could ask that someone doesn’t know the answer to, or several valid opinions that would help you out once you get past the “man bun” comments regarding the CM. :chuckle:

I’d suggest just making a list of everything you want in the rifle then going too manufactures websites and seeing what they offer. Once you find a make and model that suits your criteria ask opinions on here and go handle them at gun stores.

Browning Hells Canyon speed fits that description. If I were you, I'd look into a Tikka T3x superlight and then get it cerakoated. Or if you're not stuck on cerakote, I would strongly look at the Savage 110 ultralight with the carbon Proof Research barrel. My buddy has one and the thing shoots one ragged hole all day long.

Sites I've used for filtering through lots of guns to see what's out there:
sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com
cabelas.com
budsgunshop.com
cheaperthandirt.com

Appreciate all the suggestions, fellas

I’m in the same boat. Possibly willing to spend up to 2k. My initial thoughts right now are: SA 2020 Waypoint (6.5 PRC), Hells Canyon Speed LR McMillan (7mag or 6.8W) or Seekins Havoc PH2 (7mag). If the Waypoint had a long track record and was offered in a caliber larger than 6.5, I’d probably already have one. Need to do a lot more research before purchase. Please share what you come up with.

That Waypoint is interesting - Carbon wrap over fluted barrel ? 90% of carbon doesn't touch the barrel ? Wonder how that works. Might be better or might not. If they had a 300 prc I would like to try one.

In years past I was never a Christensen Arms fan about the only thing IMO they did well was make light rifles because accuracy wasn't that great but I have to give credit where credit is due and they've come a long way these past few years and are now producing some pretty good stuff. You can get a Christensen Arms Ridgeline for $1899 at Cabela's in a variety of cartridges including 6.5 Creedmoor. The Christensen Arms Ridgeline is dam near a full custom rifle at a price point you couldn't build one for.

My first thought is what will you be hunting ? If its deer only, 6.5 is great, but if you intend to hunt bear and elk, Id opt for more power/heavier bullets. The new 6.8 Western catches my eye "even though I am set and not in need" provided the new rifles that are being built for it have 7 twist barrels to support the 165 and 175 grain factory ammo so you could reload same. :twocents:
Plus I have 2 6.5 cm's and wouldnt bank on them for elk unless I had to, then I would limit them. Oh ya, there are tons of high quality sub moa hunting rilfes out there to choose from that will shoot as good as any low end supposed custom.

I believe Brownings 6.8 is a 7.5 twist.

I have a Christensen Mesa that I’m happy with. Got it for $1199 down in Portland. Its stainless w/cerakote and has a fiberglass stock.

Yes they are making great rifles - I have a Ridgeline in a 300WSM with a Nightforce NSX and a Ridgeline 280 Ai with a VX5 and they are lights out shooters

I have become a Christensen arms fan as well. I own a Ridgeline in 6.5 Creedmoor, but have set up 2 other Ridgelines for my boss, a left handed Creedmoor and a 6.5 PRC. All 3 of them were easy sub moa out of the box (3 shot groups) with factory ammo. I handload for mine but the other two shoot plenty well with Hornady Precision Hunter and Nosler Ballistic Tip ammo. I wouldn’t hesitate to pick up another Ridgeline or even a Mesa for that matter.

My son just purchased a Bergara Premier Mountain 2.0 in 28 Nosler. With a 24" stainless barrel that has been cerakoted. It is listed at 6.4 lbs. That is one sweet rifle! You might look at one of those.

Ha, I had a CA Ridgeline 300 WSM in my hands out at Cabela's two weeks ago today. I have buttload of Cabela's points and was trying really hard to talk myself in to taking it home. I played with it for a good ten minutes, my wife even thought I was taking it home but ended up handing it back. I need to talk to Karl more about the Wyatt's mid length setup on a SA Rem 700 because if I get any kind of short mag I think that's the direction I'm headed.
And 300 WSM was one of the ONLY ammos they had on the shelf the day I was there.

Does the Ridgeline let you run heavy Bergers long? Mid-action with long seat 300 wsm bergers may be my next packing rifle..... maybe a mid action defiance anTi or titanium. But then again asking myself with a long action only weighing 2 oz more why not just a LA? Or Tikka build? hmmm

That was probably the biggest reason it didn't come home with me, I think their SA only allow up to 3.00 OAL but then again I'm not sure I'd shoot over a 205gr in a 300 WSM so I don't know how much more than 3.00 I'd really need anyway. :dunno:
I'm in somewhat of a odd situation. I have a trued LA Rem 700 sitting on the shelf all ready to go but the stock that's sitting waiting to be used on the shelf above that is for a SA Rem 700. :bash:
-
The lid length wyatts mag is pretty dang good and absolutely maximizes the short 700 action. I dont think it works is most after market actions because of the bolt stop being in the action body.

There was a Tikka listed on here...helluva deal.

Consider the Browning Hells Canyon Long range. Incredible rifle.

For anyone interested, I went with the Weatherby Weathermark LT. My main requirement was keeping the weight to under 6 pounds and trying to stay around that $2,000 mark, while getting whatever the most weatherproof features I could get (cerakote, titanium, synthetic stock, etc). I listed every model under or at 6 pounds of all the brands I could find between Cabela's and GrabAGun. I've already got it in hand and boy am I satisfied. It's a beauty and the weight is quite shocking. I've got a Z5 3.5-18x44 on the way and if I can find any damn ammunition, I'll hopefully be getting out to zero by next weekend

carbon 24” senduro light barrel is 2# 14 oz
23oz anti action
23 oz Proof stock
Aluminum bottom metal and trigger 5 oz
= 6#

I’ve got the one with the McMillan stock in 7mag. I don’t mind carrying the extra weight. It has done everything I’ve needed it for here in Colorado.
