Title: Shipping ammo?
Post by: HntnFsh on January 22, 2021, 06:07:56 AM
Question for those of you that are trading powder and ammo. If you arent able to do a face to face deal, how are you shipping? UPS? If so any special rules to follow and how bad is it cost wise?

Ive got some .40 s.w ammo that I have been thinking about posting for a trade on some .380 and 9mm. Just dont know the easiest way to go about it.

Also hoping to find some Hornady precision hunter 7mm remington magnum 162 eldx and or nosler 162 accubond in 7mm remington mag ammo.

You can not ship Powder at All unless you are in that business with all the hazmat certifications.

Ammo can not go thru the post office.

You can use Ups ground.

Just put this label on and take to your ups depot.

Old label removed * see new label below

Maybe someone can answer this but I've been told you can only ship ammo through UPS when you take it directly to UPS for shipping not one of the off-site UPS stores.  Anyone know if that is actually true or not???

Here you go, from the UPS website:

Quote
Cartridges, small arms may be shipped only through a UPS Scheduled Pickup Account using various UPS pickup services , or through a UPS Customer Center (counters at UPS operational facilities). Note: Cartridges, small arms are not accepted for shipment via UPS Drop Boxes, and may not be tendered to or dropped off at locations of The UPS Store® or any third party retailer or UPS Access Point™ location.

Domestic Cartridges, small arms shipments that meet the exception for Limited Quantity packages and that comply with all UPS requirements for the shipment of ammunition (as set forth above, in the "Shipping Firearms or Ammunition" guidelines, and in the UPS Tariff/Terms and Conditions of Service and the UPS Rate and Service Guide in effect at the time of shipping ("UPS Terms")) may be delivered by UPS to a third party retailer or UPS Access Point™ location in the United States.

UPS and their policies suck with anything gun/ammo related.  The A-holes accepted a firearm for shipment from my dad (in person and in Spokane WA) addressed to himself at his home in NH, then a day later held it hostage and would only ship to an ffl.  They lost business from him or I from that day forward.  They didn’t care that it was legal, their manager’s interpretation of the policy all of a sudden prevented them from doing it.

Yeah their policy clearly states they won’t ship to an individual from an individual so the people accepting the package made a big mistake. Fed ex has the same policy. It may be legal to ship a gun to yourself but no one does it as far as I can tell. However their policy is very clear. Still sucks they did it in the first place

This might be pertinent information.

I recently bought some ammo from a guy who shipped it to me via ups. No problems.

Yes, an unlicensed individual can ship a firearm with UPS.

But not to another individual only to licensed dealers etc .
