Title: so my wife wants a bow
Post by: Lokaybinnity on January 28, 2021, 07:06:56 AM
So i was going to explain why my wife wants a bow but didn't want to get into a political side of things on her part. So ill make it quick. I bow hunted for about 6 or 7 years in my early 20's im now 38. Sold my bow along time ago. my wife came to me and said I think I want a bow, we should get matching bows. me being dumfounded sp? i said right on lets do it. I know enough to teach her how to shoot, but not enough to set her up correctly with everything she needs bow wise to practice and eventually deer hunt. Ive been out of the game for awhile and need pointed in the right direction, to help find her a bow and get it set up to shoot. I went to sportsmans the other day but didn't like the bow selection and neither did my wife. and the guy behind the counter looked really busy. im hoping to stay in the 1000$ price tag for both bows can you guys help me out on type of bows to look at and where you would go to get this thing ready to shoot and hunt. after practicing of course. thanks in advance

I’d find a local pro shop to help you get setup way over sportsman’s and other big box stores. XXX archery in rainier Oregon is great and not terribly far from you. To keep a budget under a 1000$ total for both I’d look to buy used. You can always take them into a pro shop afterwards and have them dialed in for you and both of your fit.

I second the idea of going to a pro shop, especially to get her draw length figured out.  Like said above, if you want to stay in the 1K range, I would look for decent used bows and then get them properly set up.  There are some decent bows that get listed quite often in the classifieds here. Doug at Great Northwest archery is in puyallup and does a great job.

No need to buy used you can pick up ready to hunt bows with all the adjustments to be made can be done at home
Diamond bows are a good starting point
