Title: Iceman's first Keeper Sturgeon
Post by: cohoho on April 20, 2009, 10:05:42 PM
Well I found one a picture of the elusive Iceman with his Keeper the other day. 38.75" and good eats...  I can't wait to hear what the recipe will be.

Thanks Cohoho.

Folks, Cohoho is quite the fish pro, if he decided to take on a guiding business some day, he will do awesome.  My good friend and I had the opportunity to hit the water all day with Cohoho and try for some springers, then switch to sturgy. The springers were dead slow, so we bailed and hit a few spots for the sturgeon. I have caught many sturgeon, but finally a keeper this weekend. Great weather, great fellowship. Fun day for sure. Thanks Cohoho!

Now THAT sounds good!  I am going to try that.  Does it work with any other fish?

Congrats Iceman!

nice fish. When I lived in Vancouver we always fished for sturgeon and I really put forth a lot of effort. Usually 3 or 4 times a week I would be on the water for at least 3 hours except all day on Sat. I finally caught a keeper after 5 years of fishing while it seemed everone else was always getting them. >:(  When I did finally get him all my buddies teased me that I caught a retarded one because his fins were all messed up but I was and still am proud of myself. That was the only year I caught keepers ( 5 total ) and haven't had any good luck since. Still fun to catch the shakers. So, my question is how long did it take for you?

Almost every other trip this winter except for when Robodad is in the boat!!! :chuckle:  Summer last year we did pretty good for the most part, a few times limit out the boat, but mostly one or two keepers and crap load of shakers...  There have been lots of blank days for sure... Especially when I started last spring learning what the heck they even were...
