Title: Deer lake Macks
Post by: TeacherMan on April 21, 2009, 07:42:02 AM
Well we spent the afternoon trying for Macks out on Deer Lake this last weekend with no luck. My oldest went with me and she had really good patients. When she started to get board I found out all I have to do is give her a worm and call it her pet and she will stay busy for at least another 2 hours.  :chuckle: All in all a fun day out on the water. We fished just off of the surface (10-25') because the ice was only partially off of the lake and in the past we have picked them up in the upper water column, within the top 20'. We saw lots of fish on the graph between 10-25 but couldn't get one to bite, in one of the pics you can see a line of fish at about 20'  :bash: we still had fun.

was your down rigger ball running at 20 feet? Our depth finder picks up our ball so there is always a "string" of fish at whatever depth we are running.

The fish varied in volume and depth so I don't think it was the downrigger ball.  We questioned that as well.  At times there where no fish at all below us. :dunno:quote]

Not the ball to inconsistent in depth of the fish and to spotty. Yes the little one gets the looks from her mom. She is a good fishing partner.

My wife and I stayed at the Deer Lake Lodge in 2004. I fished for three days without a bite before the Lodge owner tells me they killed off the lake the year before?
We spent the rest of our weeks vacation up at Loon Lake and Diamond lake. Why would they kill off a lake the size of Deer lake? And if this was true, how long would it take the lake to get back to normal?
