Title: 2021 Toyota Tundra mystery
Post by: Crunchy on March 10, 2021, 03:50:45 PM
I have been shopping for a 2021 Tundra CrewMax Limited for the wife.  Where have all the Tundras gone?  Can't find one on the lot anywhere.  They say production is down because the COVID, but that is hard to believe.  Anyone else been on the hunt?  Renton Toyota-0 Seattle Toyota-0 Tacoma Toyota-0 Puyallup Toyota-0.  Cant be that hard to produce the Limited in CrewMax...

Lots of news stories on various auto manufacturers having to shut down for weeks at a time because they can't get components to keep assembling.   All car makers have supply chain constraints right now.  Heck, many industries are having supply chain constraints.

I'm currently wanting to upgrade from a Tacoma to a Tundra, but holding out to see if this year will finally be the redesign.  I'd hate to get into a 2021 Crew Max for them to redesign the next year and offer a full length bed or something for that new truck.

Have you broadened your search to Yakima, Moses lake, or Wenatchee?

Just did a quick search on autotrader.com and it looks like Toyota of Olympia and Mark Miller Toyota (not sure where that is) both have some 2021 Limited crew max in stock.

2022 is going to have the Lexus V8 you should order and wait.  :twocents:

That's probably why you can't find any

Yeah, the Olympia salesman was a dud.  I agreed on price with him, drove down the next day so he could see the trade in, and they sold the truck I wanted.  So I wasted a trip down.  Would have been nice if they would have told me the truck I wanted had sold.  The rest of their trucks are not actually on their lot.  They are coming at some point.  I will check out the other dealer.

I bought a 2018 from I-5 (Chehalis) and they had the best price by $1500 to $2000.  I would look at Aberdeen also.  The good thing with Lewis County is a much lower sales tax rate.

I know it is a ways from ya, but we have purchased several Toyotas from Gladstone Toyota.  Not sure what their inventory is like now though.  They've been great to work with in our experiences.

Just bought a 2020 Avalon hybrid with 1900 miles from Rogers Toyota in Hermiston Oregon. It was well worth the 500 mile round trip for me. Great to deal with. Read a lot of reviews and couldnt believe how many people drove long distances to buy from them. Its at least worth a call. I dealt with Tyler Sexton.

Call Matt at Toyota in Aberdeen, he killed the price that the salehole guy could do at Toyota of Olympia on a 2019 Tundra Pro that my daughter bought new. Not sure what they have but they were great to buy from. Even after the deal was made and she was signing the papers the sales manager came back and asked if she wanted the window tinted, had it done for her for no charge.

I saw that one.  Wife wants silver or gray, but was surprised to see that one sitting on a lot unsold.

A lot of dealerships can pull a rig from another lot. I was told within 750 miles from a salesman we talked to. Also Tyler said he would deliver at no cost up to 250 miles.

Try Bellevue Toyota they treated me great on my 2017 Tundra. Didn’t have what I wanted but found it right away.

It's due to a semi-conductor "chip" shortage, and it is hitting most large truck dealerships worldwide

The wife gave up on waiting for a Tundra and bought a 21 GMC Sierra SLT.  She is happy and I do not have to look for her anymore.  Cost a bit more than a Tundra, and probably won't last as long.

my hunting partner drove a 2003 Tahoe to over 210k miles and I was in the passenger seat for a lot of offroad excursions in it.
Way better rig than any Toyota I've been in.

Definitely an unbiased opinion on Toyota’s right there.

I want to buy a 1 ton Transit chassis with Ecoboost. Zero inventory  :yike:  on West coast and Ford has stopped taking orders for '21. Also no announcement if they will be making them in '22

Don't want a Super Duty chassis..

To the OP, I feel the pain of searching.  Congrats on the new rig

Having driven a 2006 Tacoma for 10 years, I’ve earned the right.

I'm not sure what is going on.  My sources say it's a shortage in the blue LED headlamps which are only made in one factory in a remote province of China.  From the sounds of it, the shortage only impacts Toyota trucks.
