Well, did a bit of research, got limited intel but did a 4 day speed run to California for Rio's with a friend and we had a strong outing. harvested 5 of 6 possible birds over 3 days and a 4h morning before return. The birds had just broken up flocks. Had not hunted this situation, had never been to Redding and was surprised at how rugged the country was there! By 0800 daily, no further talking of Toms occurred, so you kind of needed to zero in on an area that had several early talkers. During the day, if you got in their bubble, they clucked softly but no gobbling during the daytime at all, so , lots of walk n talk was the only way to find birds... Soft, quiet responses i figured out worked. If you called hard or loud you simply drove birds away... Cant wait to get after them back here, couple weeks now!
