Anyone been out there lately? I was going to take my nephew on an elk hunt this weekend, but cant decide on which spot. Dont know how the rifle elk has been going.

I was there during the early archery.I saw more sighn there then i did with my observatory archery bull permit...............

Thats funny you say that. I've seen huge scrapes and a lot of elk over the few years I hunted it, but the only bulls I saw was the ones other people shot. I am a cow magnet. The scrapes there are so much bigger than other places I've elk hunted it makes you wonder why that is.

Yea we saw a ton of scrapes too.We hunted the tanuem side up by the crest trail.

I've got a place up near there, haven't got into Elk hunt (yet, next season maybe) just wondering how the deer hunting is in there? You guys see many around? Just wondering if its worth some scouting time next summer or if I should pass it over for other more promising areas.

i saw a real nice bear up there last year driving around. he was milling around in a clearcut.
not too sure about deer in there. shank's headed up there this weekend to look around.

I go up there all the time. My favorite tactic is hunting over a bunch of false scrapes that I put in. ;) :chuckle:

There are some nice deer, but I see mostly does. A good friend works that area, and has seen some nice bucks. Its a huge area, which is why so many people hunt it. I went up to Hanson Creek area last Sunday where I had seen some nice elk, fresh snow but didnt cut any tracks. I have also seen a lot of deer there.
