Title: hunting with altered FMJ's
Post by: Bill W on July 12, 2021, 07:39:50 AM
read a recent article on hunting post-ww 2 and cutting the tips off of fmj's to make the poor man's hunting bullet.  We did this in the early 60's.  I wonder if anyone else tried this.   One possible outcome is having the lead core strip out of the jacket and leave the jacket stuck on the rifling.  Never saw that but it was a possibility.

Dad called them dumbdumb bullets, that is what he used in the late 50's.

you reminded me of the "dumdum" designation.  I forgot that.
