I got the charge last week but wanted the official word before I said anything. Today I got the official word. I drew a non res limited entry bull tag for the PLATEAU-FISH LAKE / THOUSAND LAKE late hunt. The hunt is Nov 7-13th. Last year there were only two non res tags. One goes to the highest point holder ( 11 points ) and one goes to the random draw. It looks like I got the one tag for the random draw. I only had five points and never expected to draw.
I think my wife is going to kill me. I will need to go hunt elk in Utah then go straight to Montana for mule deer. I might need to turn my montana tags back in for this hunt but I am sweet talking the wife to keep both tags.
should be a fun hunting season.

:whoo: :whoo: Nice work

I'd suggest the Joshua Cup since you have a legit shot at a 350+ bull.
-

-
WOW!! Thats AWESOME!!! Good Luck
-
Awesome - can't wait to hear about your hunt...take LOTS of pictures!
-
I got rejected for Henry's deer and put in for points only elk. Glad to see someone on the site is drawing tags. :chuckle: Good luck on the hunt - bring home a slammer!
-
I just put in for points... But congrats on a great tag. Fish lake is a fine tag. Work hard and be selective.

To make the best use out of the tag I decided to hire a guide. I like DIY but i can't take a chance with this probably once in a lifetime tag. Everyone i talked to said it's a waist of time to scout in the summer because by november the bulls are moving down to their wintering areas. I don't have time to go three or four days early and scout so I am using a guide. I'm using http://www.hightopoutfitters.com they take some nice bulls and are pretty fair price for a 1 on 1 guided trip.
Here is a picture of a bull a guy got with the guide I'm using on the late Fishlake hunt. I would be stoked with a bull like this.

CONGRATS! I've heard a lot of great things about the folks at High Top Outfitters. I think you made a great choice...GOOD LUCK!
-
Well good luck to you that will be a great hunt!! See your guide is endorsed by Huntin Fool, good choice. Enjoy
-
Thats Awsome! Get lots of pic's and bring back a monster!
-
WOW! Once in a lifetime is probably pretty close for a guess! Good luck, and don't forget to have someone along who will video the whole thing, from leaving your front door until you return. Make sure it's someone who knows what to video and that you trust knows how you hunt and what to do in close proximity to elk, and you will end up with a priceless memory saved forever! It's going to mean extra time spent shooting the background footage and plenty of possible headaches when the bull is 30 yards out, but it'll be worth it in the long run. Good Luck!

Can't wait to hear the story this winter. Good luck?
You gonna go scout?
-
great

Craig,
Congrats on the tag. You are smart man to hire an outfitter for a once in a lifetime hunt so far away.
I hope your hunt is an experience of as lifetime. Looking forward to the story an d the picks upon your return.
