Title: Any centerpin guys here?
Post by: Commando on August 31, 2021, 05:58:49 PM
Just got a centerpin set up from Danny at Colville outfitters. This things sweet man! Any ways I’ve been trying to get the casting down and it’s been kicking my south end. I’ve been trying to get the Wallis and modified Wallis down. Seems like I can’t stop getting tangled up on both and can’t get any distance  with the regular Wallis. Anyone have any tips for a guy trying to learn? Thanks!

Nice! I have a buddy who wants to get into spey fishing. Pinning has been fun so far! Just trying to practice and get decent at casting before I hit the rivers and it’s kicking my butt!

What I did is work on short casts until I could cast the float into a 5 gallon bucket then started making longer casts. Timing with the reel and how you load the rod up on you cast is what helped me. I bought cheap line to practice casting with because of all the backlashes I would get. Most of my casting was a Pull Cast. Centerpin casting will take some time. Have fun.
