We had such a blast with the pink run this season from the beaches both on Whidbey and the "mainland" that I am hoping to follow it up with Cohos - graduate to them silvers. Any tips, advice on gear and the where's and when's (and what-have-youse...) is most welcomed. I am just starting to look into how to approach this fishery. Thanks!

Whole herring under a float. Wing it out and let it drift along. Retrieve SLOWLY and don't lift that herring out unti it touches gravel. Having a simver bust it in a foot of water 2 feet away is awesome. Google possession point bait company.
Anyone know if they still operate and sell herring at their stretch of beach?

8-2 (possession point bait company) is closed. Area 9 closes the 30th. Maybe Golden Gardens (Area 10) still has some fish. I hear they are are catching silvers on the Puyallup, drifting corkies on 12 foot leaders .
You could try the Snohomish river.

Technique for saltwater beach Coho is usually buzz bombs, rotators, Mack’s sonic bait fish (heavy jigs that casts a long ways) – let it sink, then a fast retrieve. Colors are usually greens, blue, purple.

I’ve caught resident silvers off the beaches down by Tacoma narrows. Caught them with a fly rod and a surface fly. Sooooooo much fun. You don’t have to cast a buzz bomb a half mile to catch them.

Thanks CP for the notice on closure....I hadn't thought of that.
