Does anyone run the Kuiu Northstar Glomitt? They are currently in the outlet and I have been looking for something for late season deer hunting. My hands are always cold sitting in the stand.
-
I do for my late hunts.
They are warm, when its still super cold I ware a thinner pair of kuiu gloves inside of them. I got frost bite on my hands years ago so my skin is way sensitive on my hands when it comes to cold. So I am always hunting warm gloves.

No frost bite here but same boat in my hands ALWAYS getting cold in the late season. I have some early season gloves that I would probably run underneath if it got super cold. Is having the one finger separate even useful? In a stand I almost always am able to pull my glove off to shoot

The way they make them when you sit your thumb is in the one hole. Then your four fingers are in the mitt part. Then if you need to grab something more fine you can move the finer over to the finger. It’s pretty bulky I wouldn’t shoot a bow or a rifle with them on I will always slip them off when a need to shoot arises.

tagging along. I'm looking looking for glassing mitts. I have raynauds real bad and all my fingers will turn white and go completely numb if they get cold. Looking at either the Northstars or the super down version.
Carpsniper - can you operate the focus knob on a pair of binos with the separate finger in the glomitts? That is my biggest complaint about my current mittens.

I have a set of outdoor research down mitts that are very warm.

I use very boring chopper mitts from LL bean. I like how easy it is to take them on and off if you need dexterity or to shoot. If it's wicked cold I use chemical handwarmers but the choppers are pretty much all I need.

I looked at those but the one issue I see is having to wear something over them if its wet out

If its cold enough to need down mitts, it wont be wet out. Itll be frozen.

True but also my hands get cold easy. Add to sitting still for long periods and anything can happen.

Yes that is one of the things that it shines at where just mittens struggle to do.

North 40 sells my absolute favorite glove and they are $10. They are waterproof glo-mitts. I put them on and then slide a heat pack in the mitten part. I can easily slip my right 4 fingers out to shoot without need to use the other hand. Most glo-mitts are NOT waterproof and useless in fall hunting for whitetails as it rains alot. Hands and fingers stay warm and I can still shoot with them on, bow or rifle.

@Machias Any chance you have a link where I could look at those? I didn't see them perusing the North40 website.

So I was looking for a link to post and of course can't find any, but while searching, found these. These are exactly what I have been looking for, for years. Going to have to try a pair of these out.

Next time I go to North 40, I'll get you a pair and send them to you. If you like them you can send me $10, if not, keep them, my gift. :) What size do you normally buy.

Check out Gray Wolf Woolens mitts. They used to offer them in wool with thisulate. Might call and see if they still will make those. The wolfskin is like Cabelas microtex.

Smartwool liner gloves are pretty warm. Slip on a nitrile glove underneath if it's wet out and you will have warm hands. $20 a pair with touchscreen friendly thumb and pointer finger.

I like the looks of those. Do you know if your hands would stay dry in a downpour with these?

I would say no Machias. It says it's a polymer treatment. Kind of like KIWI water repellent spray I'm guessing. I don't know for sure though. I'm curious too.
