Title: 564/568 late muzzleloader
Post by: steeliedrew on October 31, 2021, 07:56:03 PM
Starting to look into some E-scouting for the late hunt. Never been in those units before. Wondering if there’s any pay to play areas there I shouldn’t waste time looking at? that’s probably a loaded question cause some will say they wouldn’t waste any time looking at either unit period. Haha!

Seems like some good glassable country down in those parts with all the cuts. I used to hunt Winston late archery and really enjoyed glassing up Elk in the cuts and trying to make a play on them.

I personally wouldn't look to 564 unless you have access to private land in the northern end of the unit. 568 holds elk. Lots of state land with varying stages of cuts/reprod. Lots of timber stands but again with thick underbrush. I've known guys hunting that season in 568 and they get an occasional elk. I hunt 568 for rifle deer and haven't spent much effort hunting elk there but I have seen enough of those critters to know they're around.
