Wow Bone, never seen that species of duck. You may have identified a new species! (accidentally posted in Waterfowl :chuckle:)

Im not sure how the heck my thing defaults to the waterfowl section. Not the first time. :chuckle:

Have to call him Red Head, or Ginger. Very nice looking deer.

How does he compare to your goal?

That's a tough one. I'll admit I am not good at field judging deer like this, mainly because I have not seen enough of them. My initial gut reaction is that his frame is good, his mass is decent, I like the extra, but his forks are a bit short. I'm not hung up on score, but it is a great descriptor of size in general and I view this buck as 160's buck, of which I have a couple. My goal is to kill one bigger than I have before. Put deeper forks on that guy and he's probably in trouble.
Am I crazy?

Nope not at all. I wasnt sure if you were hung up on score, or what you were after. A mature buck is hard to beat. I mean pretty boy probably doesnt score crap, but hed be in danger just because of his look or cape. This guy is a nice buck but wouldnt have "triggered me"

I guess that's the deal. I really just want to see one that I don't have to look at an ponder over. I want to see that one that all the bells and whistles go off in my head saying shoot, shoot, SHOOT!! And in reality, he doesn't need to be that big, just has to be the right one. My perfect deer would be a square racked buck with mass, that is ear width or a little more, with good forks. I don't think I'm asking too much! :chuckle:

With my entiat archery tag I would have to dump him if given the opportunity. I would be thrilled if he had deeper forks. That would push him past 160 pretty easy but there is just no way you pass that deer with an archery tag in Washington unless you are willing to eat the tag.
Same chocolate "clay" looking antlers as the "patiently waiting" buck.

Square is a trigger. Mass is, wide to some, cheaters or trash. Old Groucho. Square and mass, not big forks. My hands would already be bloody

I hear you. The straight on view really highlights the box frame. There is a ton to like on that deer, the cheater would push it over the top for me and I would be flinging arrows without much thought.
-
Yes. If that was looking at me, a bullet would be on it's way. Honestly the square rack is a main goal of mine. I know I'm going to have to look at a lot of deer to find it though.
