I heard that the Indians got up into the Entiat last winter and killed a lot of the big bucks. Has anybody else heard anything about this? I have some points built up and i was just wondering if there was any truth behind this.

:chuckle:
there were definitely some deer killed in the entiat by the native shooters last year...but isn't there every year?
-
i have 9 points built up for deer so i want to put in for the entiat, but i've never been up there so i really don't know how bad the natives can be.
-
there's lots of good hunts with 9 points.
-
yeah i think i'll put in for the desert and entiat, but what are the other good ones for archery?

Go North of Entiat

Caseyv21, There are a ton of goods "rifle" hunts to put in for with 9 pts. I will have 8 pts, but even with 8 I wouldnt put in for any archery permit hunts and im primarily a bowhunter. I guess it depends on what type of hunt or how big of a buck you are looking for. If you are going for the 1-2% bucks (180+) then you will either have to be lucky or start doing your homework now.
I think that what WDFW calls a trophy permit hunt is far from it. I have had better general season hunts in other states than what WA offers. A real trophy hunt to me would be seeing 30-60 deer a day with 20+ bucks including a handful of 130-150 class bucks and a few 160-175 and 1-2 being over 175. Just my 2 cents. Good luck and maybe we will both get drawn.
