Pepper and I did our last hunt pre-xmas. We got our limit of nice big puddle ducks except for a hen scaup I saved from a slow death. She bombed through the decoys and I saw her mouth was wedged open. She swung around and did it again so I shot her. This is a hair band in it's mouth and around the neck. Believe it or not this is the 2nd duck I've shot with this exact issue. Shows how our trash can impact waterfowl it seems. Anyway, Pepper was on fire with her retrieves. She's doing great and showing a great nose when rooting birds out of the cattails.

Take care,

Well done Pepper!
Divers are notorious for getting rubber bands stuck on their bills. BTW that is a bluebill hen, not a ringer...

Great hunt.
Weird that you've picked up 2 with hair bands.

Key word is it's a diver. Not what I normally shoot here, but given the hairband, she got shot.
