Grab a freekn sweater !! Or cuddle yourself to a lathargic useless slug material , turn your money burner down for crap sakes !!! Two weeks of great fishing 2 batches of world class smoked trout devowered , then four of us went down to Lincoln , only to find out the crew of engineers are spinning the turbines as fast as they can to to support all you wimps that crank your heat up so you can sit and vedge and wine while you engulf Doritos or cherry topped cheese cake and wining about how cold you think you are 🤬😡 damit ! Get the hell up and move around , turn the heat down for crap sakes ,your ruining my fishing spot !!! DAMIT AGAIN !! , IF YOUR HEAT IS ABOVE 65° , THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT !! D A M I T !!! For those of you who can't do the math and think I'm yelling over the war inside my head again , I'll walk you through this , you turn your heat up , they let more water go to spin the turbine in the dam so you can pop your popcorn over your stupid heater vent while you wrap yourself in a o.m.g. plug in blanket , all this stupidity raises the water level to the point where I can't find 6 feet to hermetically and safely stand on ,cuz there's no beach , and no freeeeekn fish , 5 poles and one bite in five hours , so cuddle up and sipher through my rant or hey better yet ,,,, crank the freeeeekn heat see if the wall paint will hold up !!!!

You forgot to thank our governor inslee
With no more burning hog fuel to make electric by 2045
No more gasoline cars by 2030.
You think things are bad now. You just wait it's only gonna get better.
The only reason I'm awake is to put another log on the fire.
Give it a little while ,they will make a ton of juice, and lower the water level this spring to make room for run off.

But !!!! What about HARLEYS ? DANG IT ! Take a moment and look up the life story of just one car battery , it will blow your mind , into the fact of how wrong e cars are , the only solution is solar power , look it up , freeeking the insane
-
Tilting at windmills.

All those windmills , might make the burger king drive through a little complicated ?

I totally agree with ya.
I'm sticking with gasoline as long as I can.
As the future moves forward ,hydro power they will hold back every drop they can. Solar, wind, battery are not going to cut the mustard in terms of the strain that the future of electric power we will need.
If you buy stocks in power companys now.
You could retire and get an electric Harley.
In 20 years. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I'm still waiting on my
High paying energy job Brandon (biden)
Promised me 2.5 years ago. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

So the problem I see is you did some great fishing 2 weeks ago and then went to Lincoln. I think the problem is you went to Lincoln, maybe go back to where the fishing was good :chuckle:
-
So let me see if I understand your whining, oops, I meant ‘establishing an absolute and correct truth’ correctly. Your inability to catch fish when you want to, at your convenience, at the specific time you go out, is the fault of someone cuddling in a blanket? Really?

Meh. I'll take my woodgas powered truck and continue along carbon neutral. No gasoline, no propane, no emissions, no goobermint telling me how much gas I can buy at what price, and best of all? I produce my own fuel and that means I don't step on ANYONE ELSES TOES! soon plan to be powering the house on woodgas as well. Heading for independence that way I want it. Then I can sit back and watch cryder rip and know I'm not a target :chuckle:

I see Lowes has a sale on space heaters...a guy can never have enough of those plugged in around the house. :tung:

The woodgas stuff, while cool and old school way of producing energy, will have the wood nymphs coming after you!
I saw an interesting 'older' discussion on how many 'years' of wood growth per mile it takes to operate vehicles powered by the system. Only sustainable if a fairly small percentage of people use it. Otherwise, between all of the wood uses plus woodgas use in general we would run out of trees if we all switched to that, not to mention the price would start going sky high on any wood, critters would get pushed out and die off, bla, bla, bla.
No energy is free.
Cool 'old school tech' though.

the technology has come a long ways in the last few years, it will never go mainstream we know that for a fact. No one wants to get covered in soot all the time maintaining the system, but they have become very efficient. Guys in Europe have hybrid trees they plant for fuel that grow to maturity in 3-5 years and can produce more fuel then they need for the year of traveling on woodgas. I'm currently getting 1.5lbs of wood per mile traveled, and all my fuel is waste pallets from my work so no extra wood harvest on my part :chuckle: all waste that the company pays to have hauled off so I save the company money and myself money win win. Think of all the slab wood from sawmills, all the branches from yearly tree trimmings that goes to waste. Piles of chips on the ground. There is a fellow that has had success compressing woodgas into propane tanks, sounds like it could run a burner or heater in a ice fishing shack nicely  just my little slice of independence that's all, saving over 1000$ a month on my fuel bill with WW2 technology that most have never heard about or want to deal with

I just turned down my heat a couple degrees, you should be good to go for next week

You guys are totally missing the allegory.
Imagine what'll happen with all those EVs plugged in.
BTW I just did my part by turning the toaster down to "3".

I just turned mine up a couple degrees since you guys are doing the sacrificing. Thank you! :chuckle:
-
Morning Cryder! Sorry to tell you but I tend to catch more fish when the water is down! Lake Roosevelt can be finicky when it is dropping fast though.
-
You pegged us all. Currently the vast majority of us are all wrapped in our plug in blankies, with the heat at 80, multiple portable plug in heaters, 4 tv’s on but only watching one, every light on in the house, running Christmas lights during the day, letting my coffee get cold just so I can reheat it in the micro, every light on in the house, hot tub lid open so it constantly heats, oh and the front and back door wide open. This happens every year it gets cold, find a new spot to fish till the water comes down, and seriously stop with the CAPS!!! Happy new year brother!
-
I thought electricity was magic.. :yike:
I mean I just put the pluggy thing into the du hicky thingy in the wallZ and wa-la.... it's on...
I had no idear. Sorry cryd.
I'm guna let my woodstve diminish the current junk of mother earth board and reduce my carbon impacting on the oZone hopefully retroactively stopping this global warming....argh...um...I mean climate change/ ice age so people need less of the magic heat to stay warm.
Doing my part feeelz good.

Not sure if my upwind neighbor is doing his part to reduce electricity usage by heating his doublewide with a woodstove...by the smell of things he must be burning plastic buckets and railroad ties, maybe doing some amateur crematorium work :dunno:

Let Cryder speak his mind. Some of you don't like it but have to be the 1 to bash him. Just move along. Oh wait thats too hard for some folks.

Rookie mistake 😂 I’m sure you will get a pass this time CG. It takes time to properly read and enjoy cryderisms. Reminds me of the first time I drank whiskey it was unpleasant and bitter at first but I , like most, learned to enjoy it 😂The real question is to Cryder-what is your relationship to lady grouse hunter? I gots to know!!

I also turned my toaster down to 3 AND turned off 2 lights on the porch. I’ve got your back Cryder. Fish on !!

Oh come on, we can’t take shots at a dude that took shots first?!?! Get thicker skin. If you read these replies they aren’t exactly bashing as much as they are giving him a hard time. He came in hot with his post, it’s not uncommon to get a little heat for that.

Didn’t miss anything. Agreed electric cars are not as clean as they make them out to be. No electric blanket here.
What slays me is how surprised electric vehicle owners are at the cost of a replacement battery pack when they go bad. Why do you think that thing costs so much to begin with? I do actually like the tech though, and have built lithium packs.
Fishing is still fishing. Not catching. Some times it is off. Blaming someone cuddling in a blanket for not catching fish? I guess I have been doing it wrong all these years!
Yes, I presume he was not really serious. Me either.
And, by the way, can of Cougar Gold in the fridge….
-
Kind of funny to come on the internet to complain about electricity usage. The internet requires over 100 billion kWhr a year, somewhere between 10 and 20% of total electricity consumption.

I always turn my lights off at the house when I fish Roosevelt, im still catching limits. Did you check your refrigerator light? That cost me a fish once

ABSUGULOOLY HILARIOUSE OOPS 2 MANY CAPS ! burning plastic buckets , first time drinking whiskey , cases , wow freekn HILARIOUSE ! Toaster controllers 😂🤣,, I'm not familiar with this misses grouse killer ? And I've always told all my press people around me constantly , no pictures , I almost used caps on no pictures , so see I can maladjust , and if anybody takes me seriously unuff to be offended , is obviously irritated from other developments , but I'll tell you one thing this as previously mentioned , has been very entertaining , but please really !!! DIDNT MEAN TO START ANY FIRES !! ( oooops ) and just so we're straight on when where and how I fish ,I could stand on that bank all day listening to turkies , watching deer , rams , ducks and slack jawed yokles without any fish and still feel I had excepted the gift of a great day of life , and I'll go right back , but my next fishing journey is a plan by some guys I know that live over in idontno , they tell me we're gonna sneak up on a big creek on the back side of twins lake and catch huge cut throats at 4 in the morning ! So how's that for fitting into the winter determining where I get my fish flesh , I may be 64 , but I'll still climb that hill to get to this creek I've heard about for a couple years now , at 3 in the morning ????? Jeeeze !

Not too likely................

Some folks seem to be offended just to be noticed. Cryder, thank you for your unique humor that thicker skinned folks who actually spend time outdoors can relate to.

Cryder for GOV.

After spending sunrise on a coastal mudflat killing birds, this cozy gas heated house is right nice. Prost!
-
Cryder, it's 65 in the house and who new how right you are . I'm not freezing and the kids and wife are buried under a blanket nice and quiet. I can finally walk around in long pants and a t-shirt without sweating and the dog wants to stay outside to warm up!!! I'll switch to hand washing dishes and laundry if you send me some fish...

I shoveled about 5000 pounds of slush into the street and unplugged two drains, should be headed to the rivers as we speak.

@cryder posts this same topic every year and it's great. Besides humorous, it lets me know it's time to start fishing LR. For some reason my preferred spots are productive when the dam is spilling :chuckle:

the only solution is solar power , look it up
I did look it up and you are 100% correct. Of course, we await technological developments to more fully harness solar but here are the facts:
Only a tiny proportion of the sun's energy reaches us, yet it amounts to 3,766,800 exajoules of energy each year (an exajoule is a billion billion joules.....and a joule is a unit of energy in the metric system).
ALL the world's plants capture only about 3000 of these solar exajoules through the process of photosynthesis.
ALL human activities and industries put together consume about 500 exajoules annually, equivalent to the amount of energy earth receives from the sun in just 90 minutes.

Here just watch this.

Maybe Stossel should have interviewed Scotland about how they get 98% of their electricity from windpower with no batteries. Several countries in Europe and New Zealand are over 40% and the US is over 20% and climbing every day.
Saying the wind doesn't always blow is like saying you can't drill for oil in every back yard. His viewpoint of what is currently happening, much less what the future holds is very ignorant.
I'm sure you can find a similar paper from some guy long ago about how oil will never replace the good old horse and blubber industry.
-
I went to Denmark quite often for work and I believe they are near self sufficient energywise and if I recall, about half comes from wind.

Scotland and Denmark are barely the size of our smallest states. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
When we talk about battery, how do you think electric cars work. Where do you think those battery packs come from.
Let's put it this way,If everybody bought an electric car today.
And plugged in to charge ,can you say rolling black out.
Let's not even talk about the price per kilowatt.
I agree that video is a year old and not spot on with numbers ,but no way is our power grid up to the future .
-
That's exactly why significant money is being proposed to upgrade the electrical grid.
If we can dig a barrel of oil out of the ground in the middle east, move it to the coast, put it on a ship, cross the ocean and then use it we can certainly move electrons around in our own country.
What would happen if everyone went to the gas station right now and filled up every vehicle? The gas infrastructure would crash. It's an argument with no point like saying you can power a house in one country on renewables but not a house in the US. There are numerous facts in the video blatantly wrong.
Regarding cost, wind energy fully loaded rates in the US are 3.9 cents per kWhr. Natural gas costs 6.5 cents now and coal is 9.5 cents.
The largest wind power state right now is Texas, that should say something.
-
I think, with enough wind mills, a vast amount of Montana could power the entire planet. There's spots I don't like as the wind drives you nuts after awhile.

Ya I agree it's not a bad thing,it's just gonna take a while to get self efficiency.
-
As stated......"we await technological developments." Another source is harnessing tidal action but I'm afraid that will mess up someone's fishing along the coast, which was the start of this discussion.
-
I will agree that the fishing is better when the water is lower. Helps concentrate the fish a bit more. I was there last week for a day and a half with my brother and son. It was COLD!! But we were layered up and as long as we kept the wind off the skin it was very pleasant. Fire was good to warm the hand after catching a fish and baiting the hook.
We ended up with 12 real nice trout. Four that went 18”+ got the smoker running tonight 👍🏽

well hell with the stupid sh*t but i'm a big enough man to own it...my christmas tree is still plugged in and going strong and i'm still loving it. not only are the lights burning strong but i water it every day so i use that bit of extra power to run my well pump. I guess my new superhero nemesis moniker will be "planet killer/reason Cryder aint catching no fish". Hopefully someone can design my outfit and mask as i suck at originality.

The Kitchen Commander kicked ours out on News Years Day, the goats are enjoying its tastiness.🤣
-
I hope you're sitting down for this but not only is my Christmas tree still blazing but I'm doing it concurrently with my 75" tv going and you can see the wife's head using her plugged in I phone. I will unlock the front door so the electrical cops don't have to break it down coming to arrest me
-
I just saw a study on the wind mill thing , they are saying the maintenance and hydrolic fluid it takes is out wieghing they're electrical output , call me stubborn or stupidly ignorant I geuss Judaspriest hellbent for leather, rough or rude crowd ? 🤣🥴😆😵💫the blades half to be removed and serviced yearly it's a three day four man job with the ose of a very expensive crane , and if the blade needs replaced or shipped for service , that particular mill will never get even in costs , cuz reservice will never let it produce unuff energy to replace costs of services , ever , again with the look it up !! SOLAR FOLKS ! ( OOOOOPS ! )
-
If people knew what they did with windmills when they break... :chuckle:
All this green energy comes at a cost...if we really want to go green let's go back in time and live like homesteaders...no power, no tech, no problem...or is that to much sacrifice..
And cryder would have way better fishing..
-
Just to mention it, the windmill farm in EWa is a pretty fun visit. They have tours and informational booths set up. Learned some stuff, but it is not 'magic', and they even admit it.
