Title: WDFW facebook users in Skagit
Post by: full choke on January 16, 2022, 07:56:50 PM
I do not have facebook- someone told me there was a report of someone dumping 75+ mallard and wigeon carcasses at a Skagit access spot? Anyone have any more info on this? Sounded like WDFW was asking for help or info.

I saw it not sure it was 75+ but it was pretty pathetic and zero attempt of harvesting meat.

Well I did not see that.

But some one breasted out 6 ducks at  Beaver lake and left them at the boat launch.

Disgusting.

And folks wonder why people are opposed to hunting!!!

Any non-hunter even close to being 'on the fence' about hunting would see this and have their minds made up. As in, "where do I sign a petition to ban this?" Wastage is a crime against the resource, but even more damaging/threatening to the heritage of hunting.

I also believe that carcass disposal on public lands - while legal - is equally problematic. Folks running around with binoculars, scopes, and cameras are trying see the birds alive and on display. Seeing them in a carelessly disposed of pile of guts and feathers taints their opinions. If it can be done discretely, that's one thing. Unfortunately, boat launches and public access areas seem to be preferred.

Throwing breasted out birds in the river is not a bad thing! We all know that if hunters throw out birds that have been wasted should be prosecuted to the fullest!! But if a guy has a good weekend hunting and breast out all his birds and decides to toss them in the river I see no problem at all!! That feeds all the birds of prey which allows all the bird watchers to get a better view of what they want to see!! And I’m sure the sturgeon get a great meal out of it as well!! And it is 100% legal to do so if they have been processed I have ask the wardens many times over the past 30 years of waterfowl hunting!!

This incident above was 78 birds. 6 of which were breasted. The rest were whole and untouched.
I think this situation had to be a large group hunting to get that many birds.

I agree but it’s one thing to toss them in the river and another to throw them all over the boat ramp or just to the side of it. Or my personal favorite to throw them in a garbage bag and leave them on the side of the ramp

I don't care what kind of religion you believe in or none at all or whatever, but that's a sin in any book.
