I have a family member telling me something that does not sound right to me, Hoping one of you more knowledgeable folks can enlighten us.
Family is saying if they did not pay extra during their application they do not gain points if not drawn? That sounds just completely backwards?
I have a feeling they are confusing what pointguard is? Pointguard lets you keep your points if you cannot take part in a hunt and turn in your permit before hunt, but has no benefit if you are not drawn.
SHIP FROM DRAW PAMPHLET:
What if I’m not Drawn?
Customers who open a free portal
account will receive their draw results
online. Create a portal account by visiting accounts.azgfd.com/Account/Register
and completing all fields.
Unsuccessful, valid applications will be
awarded bonus points.
Seems pretty clear that if not drawn you get a point, no need for any extra fee.

you got it. not drawn and you get a point. pointguard is insurance against being drawn and not being able to go.

Yep, you're fine. Some states require a separate fee (MT) for the point, you can either buy it if drawn or not but AZ gives it to you for the $15 application fee if you aren't drawn.
