So I'm mounting a scope on a rifle with a 20 MOA rail. At the lowest power....4....the end of the barrel is visible in the very bottom of the scope. As I zoom it, it is not visible at 6 power. I have a taller scope base as well I have taller rings....though I like my objective bell to be as close to the barrel as possible. Currently it is sitting about 1/4" off the barrel which is sufficient. If I switch to the higher rail or higher rings....it sits close to a 1/2 inch off the barrel. Never had this happen before and have mounted a lot of scopes in my life.
Scope is a NF NX8 4-32 x 50
Rifle is a Savage 110 FCP 338 Lapua with 26" barrel
What would you all do??
My guts says to leave it as is and I probably won't notice it at all in the case I had to shoot the rifle at 4 power due to the animals being so close.....??

If scope fits leave it. Just rare to have 4 power on 20 moa rail is why you never saw it before?

Luckily your aren’t building a brush gun and will rarely have it on 4x. Your son won’t notice it when he’s shooting that monster moose at 500 yards

Perfect….thanks guys. Just finished torquing the scope down and will let the loctite cure for a day or two and then it’s time to test some loads.

Borrowed my cousin's Rem 700 Classic in 35 Whelen many years ago, it had a 1x5 or thereabouts scope and you could see the barrel at lower power. Didn't bother me at all, still killed a spike bull on my birthday with that rifle, probably with the barrel in the scope view. Promptly gave it back to my cousin, could have bought it complete for $350, still kicking myself.
