Title: Shotgun Question??
Post by: jrebel on May 09, 2009, 12:53:52 PM
I have a Browning Belgium Sweet 16 that is for sale in the classifieds.  The Blue book of gun values has it at 2100 plus in great condition.  I have done a lot of research and am finding them from 800 to 2200 dollars.  What is the difference in price from?  What is a fair price for a gun in almost perfect condition?  Thanks  Johnny

shotguns are worth what people will pay for them. given the state of the economy i wouldn't put any weight to what a book says.
you might look at shotgunworld.com and see what people are buying them for or gunbroker, gunsamerica, etc. IMO you're going to have a hard time selling any browning 16 gauge gun for $2000 right now...you might hang onto it for a year till people have some money back in their accounts. $12k krieghoffs are going for 7500-8000 right now...the market is dead just like everything else.

Zactly that...your gun is a niche market gun that will sell for max true value.  You just have to advertise it in the right area and wait.  Price it at the true value of it and don't lower.  Now to find true value do some research and be realistic in the condition of your gun.  The normal buyers of guns like yours have the money to pay full price even today, but they know the prices are down so are getting deals or riding it lower.  Upper end priced guns are suffering because the average guy who had really wanted one and had the money the last few years bought and prices climbed.  Now you pretty much have the guy who wants one but needs to spend the money on needs.  Let it ride for a couple years and guys in the man I always wanted one of those will have some more spare cash.  Good luck.

Its a buyers market without a doubt. Someone offered me a gun for 50% of its value last week........the person who ordered it lost there job and couldn't pay it off.....the guy walked from a big deposit :o
